Ceremony Celebrated Fifteen Graduates From The UP Employment Professional Cohort Class

The Barbara Stone Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on supporting and creating visionary programs for individuals with disabilities, hosted a graduation ceremony on Tuesday, Dec 16, 2025, for 15 adults who completed the UP Employment Professional Cohort. The ceremony was held at the KROC Center in Greenville, SC.

The UP Employment Initiative started in 2022 as a partnership with the Barbara Stone Foundation, Windsor Aughtry Hotel Group, and Hospitality America to develop a world-class workforce initiative for the inclusive employment of people with disabilities. In 2023, the program expanded to include the UP Employment Professional Cohort, a year-long professional development program for individuals with disabilities pursuing meaningful employment. The Class of 2025 engaged in monthly trainings, leadership, skills development, peer collaboration, and networking, with a focus on gaining greater independence, as defined by each individual.

“Many people living with disabilities desire independence, peer engagement, and the opportunity to find meaningful employment,” said Lara Ceisel, executive director of the Barbara Stone Foundation. “The UP Professional Cohort supports these endeavors by increasing confidence, independence, community involvement and increased experience at a professional level. We are so proud of their achievements and celebrate the expanding opportunities for more inclusive employment of people with disabilities.”

The next UP Professional Cohort begins in January 2026. Interested participants should contact the UP Employment Job Liaison, Hadlee Hoeksema at hadlee@barbarastonefoundation.org or visit  barbarastonefoundation.org/up-employment-initiative for more information.
