Job Opening: UP (Upward Professionals) Employment Initiative

We’re hiring a Job Liaison for the Barbara Stone Foundation’s UP Employment Initiative—a holistic employment support model that empowers individuals with disabilities toward meaningful employment, community engagement, and self-defined independence. The Job Liaison is the lead, full-time, staff member responsible for managing and advancing the Barbara Stone Foundation’s UP Employment Initiative. This role blends direct participant support, employer engagement, program facilitation, and initiative development. The Job Liaison works closely with individuals with disabilities and their networks of support, while also cultivating relationships with employers across Greenville and the Upstate to advance inclusive employment practices.

The ideal candidate is deeply committed to disability inclusion, energized by relationship-driven work, and fulfilled by walking alongside others as they grow in confidence, skill, and independence. This role requires emotional intelligence, adaptability, and sustained presence—both in one-on-one settings and in the broader community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain a long-term support model (typically at least one year), including the development of
thoughtful, participant-centered exit plans aligned with each individual’s goals

Individualized Employment Support (Caseload Management)

Provide one-on-one, individualized employment support to adults with disabilities, maintaining a
manageable caseload aligned with the Foundation’s standard for excellence

Collaborate with participants and their support networks (family members, caregivers, case managers,
care partners, etc.) to establish participant-driven goals and attainable benchmarks

Identify barriers to employment, independence, and community engagement and develop tailored
strategies to address them

Create, implement, and track individualized employment plans, including progress measures, goal
attainment, and outcomes

Support participants through job exploration, placement, onboarding, retention, advancement, and
employment transitions

Employer & Community Engagement:

Build and maintain relationships with employers, businesses, and organizations across Greenville and
the Upstate

Advise on reasonable workplace accommodations and inclusive practices in collaboration with the
Greenville CAN Program Manager

Advocate for inclusive employment practices, workplace accessibility, and equitable hiring

Connect participants to employment, internship, and volunteer opportunities aligned with their goals,
interests, and readiness

Maintain consistent communication with employers and supervisors to support successful placements
and long-term employment outcomes

Program Facilitation & Development:

Facilitate the UP Professional Cohort, a year-long professional development program; including
planning and facilitating two events: the annual Professional Cohort retreat and graduation event

Support the ongoing development and expansion of the UP Employment Initiative, including curriculum
development, documentation, and emerging offerings such as the Employment Development Track

Co-facilitate the Pre-Employment Program (PEP) with the UP Program Assistant for individuals earlier in
their employment journey

Collaborate (non-supervisory) with the UP Program Assistant to assess participant readiness and
identify appropriate pathways into employment, cohort participation, or community engagement

Data Collection, Documentation & Evaluation:

Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all participants, including employment goals, services
provided, progress updates, and outcomes

Contribute to program evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts through consistent
data collection and analysis

Track and report data related to participant employment status, wages/salary, job retention, goal
attainment, and program exits

Collect and document employer feedback, satisfaction, and employment-related challenges or
successes

Monitor and document employment issues as they arise and collaborate with participants, employers,
and support networks to address concerns

Organizational & Community Representation:

Work closely with the Executive Director to implement, evaluate, and evolve the UP Employment
Initiative

Complete related administrative and documentation responsibilities necessary to support program
operations

Represent the Barbara Stone Foundation and Greenville CAN at community events, trainings, and
outreach opportunities

Participate in UP Employment Initiative evaluation and organizational learning efforts

Present on the UP Employment Initiative to the Barbara Stone Foundation Board Board annually

Qualifications:

Deep alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Barbara Stone Foundation

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally

Bachelor’s degree required (relevant lived or professional experience considered)

Experience working with individuals with disabilities strongly preferred

Strong facilitation skills, including group dynamics, relationship-building, and engagement

High emotional intelligence and the ability to sustain supportive, motivating relationships over time

Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining consistency and follow-through

Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Commitment to learning, growth, and inclusive practices

What we’re really looking for:
Someone who brings steady energy, presence, and care to their work—who is motivated by progress (not perfection) and finds purpose in helping others move toward their own goals, at their own pace.

Compensation & Benefits:
Starting Salary: $50,000 annually
Barbara Stone Foundation is committed to offering compensation that reflects the scope, responsibility, and
